Exquisite Decorative PM Porzellanfabrik MORSCHENDORF Hand Decorated CABINET PLATE, Vivid Art Nouveau PINK ROSES w/Green LEAVES, BLACK SCROLLWORK on GOLD, from Hof-Moschendorf, Bavaria, Germany
DESCRIPTION: This features a large spray of 5 realistic rose blooms with green leaves. The gold center medallion has a 6th pink rose spray. The smooth rim has a broad, bold gold band with black scrollwork and gold scrollwork pointing inward on the high white of the porcelain. See photos.
CONDITION: The condition of this decorative cabinet plate is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is no rubbing to the gold. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is.
DIMENSIONS: The elegant plate has a diameter of 8 3/4" and a height of 3/4".
HISTORY/MARKS: From a company started in 1878 by Hermann Kuhnert, Otto Reinecke took over as managing director from 1910-1937. In 1937, he and his brother completely acquired the company which Otto ran. During WWII he had many troubles with the Nazis who not only took over his factory, but also his mansion which was directly next to the factory. He could not gain control and resume production until Autumn, 1948. He died in 1951 with no direct heirs so he left his factory to his housekeeper, Elly Kunzel. On November 23, 1957, Elly closed the factory and sold the estate to the city of Hof receiving a life annuity. The mark on this piece was used from 1895-1910.
