Was told the mouthpiece is from the 1950's and is better than the original making it a functional antique. 

It would polish to a high shine but that would wreck the patina which many prefer. One or two minor dints nothing that gets in the way of it's ability to play, suppose as an artillery bugle it might have seen several conflicts
