Canoeing at the 1936 Summer Olympics

Canoeing was an official Olympic sport for the first time at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. It had been a demonstration sporttwelve years earlier at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. A total of nine events were contested at the 1936 Games, all in canoe sprint for men.

The competitions were held on Friday, August 7, 1936, and Saturday, August 8, 1936. They were held on a regatta course at Grünau on the Langer See.

Tage Fahlborg (April 24, 1912 – January 8, 2005) was a Swedish sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1930s. He won a bronze medal in the K-2 10000 m event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.

Helge Larsson (October 25, 1916 – November 19, 1971) was a Swedish sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1930s. He won the bronze medal in the K-2 10000 m event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.

Bror Erik Alvar Bladström (29 March 1918 – 21 May 1998) was a Swedish sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1930s. He won a gold medal in the folding K-2 10000 m event at the 1936 Summer Olympics, where he was the youngest competitor, aged 18.[1][2][3]

Bladström also won a silver medal in the same event at the 1938 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Vaxholm.[1]

Sven Bertil Johansson (10 June 1912 – 5 August 1953) was a Swedish sprint canoeist who won a gold medal in the folding K-2 10000 m event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He also won a silver medal in the same event at the 1938 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Vaxholm.[2][3]
