Rare Timo Sarpaneva's art glass from 1984 with large air bubble captured insude a glass ball surrounded by uncontrolled little bubbles. Designed and manufactured at Iittala glassworks in Finland. Year 1984.

The art glass name "Utupallo" meaning a "Mist ball".  It's also a part of the Claritas series.

This one Im selling is the original C-series production meaning it was an exhibition piece.

Utupallo was later manufactures in small limited series but the design was little different. The mist of small bubbles was a lot thicker and denser.

I assume this original version was too difficult to manufacture as the small bubbles are gently lifting and supporting the larger bubble instead of being a thick cloud on which the larger bubble stands on. This effect of "gently lifting and holding" I was not able to capture on camera. This piece is much more vivid in live setting.
