You are viewing a very nice condiment jar and lid, originally designed by Reingold Unger for Goebel in the 1930's. The back stamp is a blue mark in the TMK-3 mark, dating it to 1960-1972. This Munich Monk condiment jar was part of a 3 piece set, along with a salt and pepper shaker on a triangular tray that is hard to find. The bottom has alpine flowers (edelweiss) and the lid features a child in a hooded monk gown, with a mug in one hand and a rutabaga in the other. The rutabaga in Germany is symbolic for being a survival food during WWII. The base is impressed with "L Mun 26". The information was found on p. 20 of Goebel Salt & Pepper Shakers by Hubert and Clara McHugh. It is 4" high with lid and 2 7/8" wide. The plastic spoon s 3.5" long.
This item is in excellent pre-owned condition and clean, with no chips or cracks. It was found with a small plastic spoon but I don't believe it's original, although I can't find another online with a spoon to compare. It will be packaged with care and shipped with USPS Ground Advantage.
