1821 Napoleon Saint Helena Medal "He Died On The Rock" 

The Death of Napoleon Bonaparte on Saint Helena Bronze Medal. This is a later restrike by the Paris Mint and is marked "Bronze". The original medal was by Bertrand Andrieu.

The obverse features the head of Napoleon in laurel wreath facing right. Napoleon is enclosed within a circular wreath containing battle honours:

“WAGRAM, RIVOLI, PYRAMIDEE, MARENCO, LUNEVILLE, AMIENS, CODES, LEGON. D’HONR., AUSTERLITZ, IENA, TILSIT, SIMPLON”.

The reverse with the legend Il Mourut Sur Un Rocher (He Died On A Rock) and an image of Saint Helena, with the date of 5th May 1821. An eagle looks down upon the island, as the sun sets.

In excellent condition with moderate surface wear.

Approximate diameter is 68 mm.

Approximate weight is 130 grams.
