Two vintage Chinese ceramic Mudman Fisherman figures – from the Shiwan region. One measures 8½” high (to the top of his right hand) and the base measures just over 5½” at its widest point. This one is obviously much larger than the other and is nicely detailed. He is in good condition with no cracks or chips – including his beard and hair. The fishing rod still has its fish attached to it. The underside shows written numbers. The word China is stamped into it and also a name was scratched before it was fired. The other figures is much smaller – at 2½” high and 2¾” on the base. This one is less detailed. I think he may have been holding a rod as there is a little hole in his right hand that has a trace of wood in it. The glaze is not such good quality. This one has no markings on the base.
