Great rare and characterful item by toy firm Mountford, who specialised in producing animal figures with handlers, in a military context.

This yak is carrying equipment including signal poles / snow poles.

Yaks have been used by armies for transport over very difficult terrain, where vehicles cannot go. The Chinese army today apparently still uses yaks for access to some of their difficult-to-reach borders.
