The Head MicroGel Raptor is a lightweight, tweener racket aimed for players looking to add some power and spin to their game. It is also a great choice for growing juniors who are not yet ready to handle a player’s racket. The racket features Head’s MicroGel technology, which is a lightweight, low-density material. MicroGel helps evenly distribute impact throughout the frame of the racket, offering a unique touch.

All of the specifications of this racket are geared towards game improvement. At 110 square inches, the Microgel Raptor offers a fairly large head size. This combined with the slight head-heavy balance and lightweight frame give the racket a tremendous amount of power. I found myself able to generate pace with ease. The racket features a 16 x 19 string pattern. This fairly open string pattern offers superb spin production. I was able to hit hard off of the ground with a great amount of spin. The large head size ensures that you will rarely hit off center with this racket and also offers more power and spin compared to its midplus counterpart.

The big sweetspot allows you to hit volleys with ease. It is also a maneuverable racket at net because of its light weight. The open string pattern along with the power in the racket makes the MicroGel Raptor a forgiving racket on volleys. It is still easy to hit powerful volleys without perfect form, something I feel should appeal to the target buyers of this racket.

Just like on volleys and groundstrokes, I found myself able to generate power with ease on serves. The head-heavy balance also helps to accelerate your racket head speed throughout your service motion, generating even more power. Second serves were a joy to hit with the MicroGel Raptor. With the amount of spin the racket is able to produce, I was able to get a lot of topspin on my second serve to keep it in play and the ball had plenty of action off of the bounce.

The MicroGel Raptor Oversize is a racket for those looking to add a great amount of power and spin to their game. Those who do not have overwhelming racket head speeds will be able to use this racket to its fullest potential. Players who do not have the time or resources to improve their strokes will reap immediate benefits.
