Islamic book.
In this auction I am
selling a very old religious book. Imagine the journey this has been on.

** I have had this come in from The British Library (Arabic Department):
"I'm able to make out the colophon, which states that the work was completed on 2 Shaaban 1264 AH (?), which would correspond to 4 July 1848 CE. The dating of 1852 CE would require the Hijri year to be 1268 AH, which I think is a bit of a stretch from the form of the numbers on the last page.
Sadly, the text on the last two pages does not provide the name of the work,
as it is largely composed of supplications and prayers to Allah. From what I
can read of the text on the third image, it does appear that this was a
religious volume, likely theological in nature. It is possible that the title
of the entire book is given on the first page. The script is good, if not
calligraphic, Maghribi, which would normally point to the creation of the text
in Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia, possibly even Libya (although manuscripts from
this last country are fairly rare) given the date of its
copying."
Maybe this should be
restored and belong in a museum, perhaps from the region it was original made. There
approximately 160 pages of scripture, two with pressed flowers tucked
inside.
