An absolutely stunning pair!

RARE RARE RARE

This man + his horse - very very old!

At first glance, it seems “rustic” yet the level of detail is incredible - from the 4-6th Century/ Tang Dynasty!

I read that horses made in the Tang Dynasty were made as a symbol of wealth and loyalty to the emperor.

The pointy ears of the horse and the guy’s beard points are still there and not broken OR glued. The spotted horse, Palomino, with turquoise saddle with red trimmings is all hand done. The tail is “short” and exactly as the one depicted for sale by another seller on eBay in the last photo. Wow!!

The turquoise color is nearly translucent so it almost seems as if it’s carved jade or celadon and the chipping away is a paint or thin porcelain layer? feels like porcelain or stone - I am out of my comfort zone analyzing this item but feel sure it is very valuable and an exemplary historic piece of fine Chinoiserie. Maybe even museum quality, as artifacts go. It’s an Art object also. Truly remarkable!!

*This is small, only 4”H, unlike the tall piece of the same style & age in the comp photo I included for price reference ( see last photo ).
