Excellent and scarce Czechoslovak Forces in Great Britain 1944 illustrated Field Postcard commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the death of General Milan Rastislav Ŝtefánik who died on 4th May 1919 aged 39 years whilst on a flight from Campoformido, Italy to Bratislava, when at approximately 11 am his aircraft crashed near to Ivanka pri Dunaji. General Ŝtefánik, along with all on board, was killed. The circumstances of the crash were initially disputed between human error and the plane having been deliberately shot down. General Milan Rastislav Ŝtefánik was a Czech National Hero, and one of the founders of modern Czechoslovakia.

This postcard has 2 x British King George VI 1d postage stamps affixed which are tied with a superb dark blue circular ‘Czechoslovak Field Post’ commemorative handstamp dated 4 V 1944 (4th May 1944). Also depicted, is a photograph of General Ŝtefánik.

This scarce commemorative postcard, which is in excellent original condition, has a typed recipient’s address and the sender’s details, the reverse is has a sender’s typed message and ink signature.

An ‘austin1100’ logo has been applied which does not appear on the buyer’s original.
