Vintage Estate Piece - 8 Strand Baroque Rice Pearl Torsade Necklace with Inlaid Abalone Clasp

From my personal collection comes this elegant combination of baroque rice pearls with inlaid abalone clasp.  This is a old piece hand crafted by an unknown artisan.

These baroque rice pearls average 6 mm x 4 mm. 7 strands of natural creamy white pearls and one strand of silver gray/lavender pearls...all have a pretty luster to them as you can see from the photos and are connected to a stunning hand crafted inlaid abalone clasp.  The clasp measures approximately 2.25" by 1.5" and is set in yellow gold over brass.  Each strand of pearls is 16" long.

Worn loose with the clasp centered in front gives a more casual effect, but my favorite way to wear it is twisted with the clasp to the side.  It just speaks of sophisticated elegance that way.  I've taken photos of the necklace outdoors in natural light.  The grey pearls have a lavender tint to them. The abalone clasp has beautiful iridescent shades of lavender, greens, blues, corals, pinks and silver. The pearls are connected to a metal ring with two loop holes that clasp onto the hooks on the back of the clasp. There is some wear to the gold plating around the edges and back of the clasp. The loop and hooks themselves have quite a lot of wear, but are on the back side of the piece and not noticed when being worn.
