I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Aoshima has an extensive line of car and truck models, with the majority being “domestic”, meaning the Japanese market. This one is a purely American (although fictitious) invention straight from the small screen. Knight Rider aired in the US for four seasons starting in 1982. The car changed over the run of the show and Aoshima has covered each version. This model represents the first season and is based on the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. Aoshima has included a series of LEDs to recreate the iconic look of the real TV star (not David Hasselhoff).

There are many K.I.T.T. kits listed on eBay (mostly Seasons 3 & 4), but I couldn’t find any of this exact kit (#004524 or SP02). The KR series (KR-01, KR-06, etc.) are the current Aoshima releases, but the older version like this one seems to be much harder to find. In any event, as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this rare model:

The Aoshima website (aoshima-bk.co.jp) no longer has a page for this exact release. It seems to have been Discontinued or is Out of Production. There is a page for the latest release of this model (#65600 or KR-06) which has the same name, but with a voice module (Japanese only) that isn’t in the version in this listing. The site shows the fine box art and many photos of a finished model along with the following short blurb about this nostalgic sportscar:

A new scanner unit is included with the K.I.T.T. of the Season I specification, the initial model of the "Knight Rider". The impressive luminescence of the scanner in the movie is realistically reproduced using 8 LEDs. Season I specification with 6 louvered fog lamps, 2 monitor type instrument panel, and early type roof console.

Scalemates.com shows that this is a 2012 release based on the brand-new tooling from 2008 that has been the basis of about sixteen releases. They provide a link to download the complete 10-page instruction set and painting guide. You also get links to aftermarket parts and galleries for some nice K.I.T.T. (and K.A.R.R.) projects.

BradM73 posted a multi-part video series starting with an 11.5 minute Unboxing Video on YouTube. After showing the box, he pulls out the sprue bags and identifies the major parts. Then you get a look at the instructions before he puts the parts back in the box. The seven Build Videos are much longer (over 30 minutes each) and will take you step-by-step through the assembly, painting and finishing of this fun kit.

Scale Auto Garage published a much shorter Build Video on YouTube that runs about 12 minutes in a single episode. There is no narration but there are a few subtitles where needed. It is broken into major assemblies, and you can see almost every step in putting together this nice Trans Am variant. A lot of time goes into prepping and painting this beauty and the results are fantastic!

This kit is in a sturdy box about 13” x 8.5” x 3”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in mint condition and still sealed with shrink wrap, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready.

This item contains highly detailed plastic parts and decals to make a stunning replica of K.I.T.T. from Season One of Knight Rider along with a sophisticated LED scanner module to duplicate the signature feature from the show (batteries not included). I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid plus, for a limited time, I am offering this gorgeous kit with $9 Flat Rate Shipping in the US!

No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck!

Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder).

As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
