Up for auction is a vintage multifold map / guide of New York City's subway system, with "Rapid Transit Guide" printed in three lines in (in red, blue, and red) on the front panel, along with a capital "M" and the words "New York City / Transit / Authority." A small box on the bottom right of the map side of the item has the words "New York City Transit Authority 1968 / 1969 REVISION" printed within it, which makes the map over 50 years old.

When folded, the compact map measures 3-1/4 inches wide by 4-3/4 inches high. Fully opened, its measurements are 15-1/2 inches wide by 19 inches high.

One side of the guide has a large map showing the parts of the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn boroughs where the trains travel, as well as a three-panel guide at the top right explaining how to use the map and where the various lines go.

The other side of the map has 13 vertical sections showing all the stops on the various lines, both numbered and lettered, as well as a box of various tourist sights, with the heading "PLACES TO VISIT" and at the lower right a box with information on the Lost Property Office and contact information on the N.Y.C. Transit Authority (located at the time in Room 1314, at 370 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

The overall condition of this vintage folding map is fair to good. It has some pencil markings, staining, smudging, spotting, corner bends, chipping, tiny holes (where folds meet), etc., here and there, with the worst damage being on the front cover. There are no large tears, tape repairs, or water or other liquid stains on the guide / map, which has neither a musty nor smoky odor.

This late 1960s Rapid Transit Guide of the New York City subway system, which includes a map, is being sold AS IS, AS DESCRIBED ABOVE AND PICTURED WITHIN. I am setting what I feel is a very reasonable starting price for the auction, and there is NO RESERVE. I am also including a Buy It Now price.
