I am pleased to offer a very scarce matching set of British Empire Exhibition 1925 Post Office Telegraphs Souvenir Telegram forms with a King George V One Penny Commemorative Stamp affixed.

Issued in 2 parts, part 1 (BEE 17903) with black text, was available to the public at the Post Office Exhibit in the Government Pavilion, where for a payment of a One Penny fee, for which a King George V British Empire Exhibition One Penny commemorative postage stamp was affixed to the top right hand corner of the form, the Exhibition visitor could complete the handwritten Souvenir Telegram form, which was then handed to the Telegram Operator, and then could watch their handwritten text being transmitted electronically via the Post Office Telegraphs.

Once transmitted, the Telegraph Operator handed the sender a copy of the completed Souvenir Telegram, part 2 (BEE17902) with red text, for the visitor to retain as a souvenir.

Both forms, part 1 & part 2 were handstamped with an exclusive special dated circular handstamp ‘P.O. EXHIBIT. GOVT. PAVILION WEMBLEY’. The handstamp on this set being dated ’18 MAY 1925’.

For this particular scarce set, the original sender a ‘J.H. Daniels’ writes to ‘G.H. Holland’ “I hope this will please you. 2^nd visit to Exhib”.

It is very scarce for both part 1 (black text) and part 2 (red text) to remain intact as an original complete set, as only a limited number of Souvenir Telegrams were transmitted from the 1925 Wembley British Empire Exhibition, with a Souvenir Telegram sent on the final day of the Exhibition being numbered only 6382, and unfortunately not all Exhibition visitors retained both part 1 & part 2 of their Telegram forms and a good percentage of those 6382 Souvenir Telegrams probably did not survive at all, hence their rarity today, particularly a used matching pair.

Both forms in this very scarce set are in excellent original condition.
