The binding of the books have white patches , as if something has been eating on the back cover (only the spine)

The box has some corner damage (see photo 2)
One of the books has some corner damage ( see photo 12)
The sides and bottom of the book,the white pages , have black specks .
I believe this to be bug poop!
I am not able to wipe it off ,and am afraid to do to much to it .
