Sir Francis C. Burnand (1836-1917) was an English playwright and humorist, best known for his work with the satirical magazine Punch, where he served as editor from 1880 to 1906. He wrote numerous plays, many of which were comedic burlesques and farces, and he adapted several operettas, including those of Gilbert and Sullivan. Burnand's wit and humor made him a significant figure in Victorian and Edwardian literature and theatre. He was knighted in 1902 for his contributions to literature.
