Notes: 5 x 7 inscribed and signed photo by DJ legend Dick Biondi. Signature unconditionally guaranteed to pass any COA examination. Calling himself the The Wild I-tralian, Biondi was one of the original "screamers," known for his screaming delivery as well as wild antics on and off the air. He gained national if not international recognition by being the first to play Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, and other early rhythm and blues artists, not to mention the first US DJ to play the Beatles, aired on Chicago's WLS 890 AM in February 1963, with the song "Please Please Me." Record producers knocked on is door often because of his promotional power for driving sales of records. Fired 23 times during his record-breaking career for off-color, if not obscene, jokes and other craziness, Biondi in his time was perhaps the most influential DJ on the planet, especially for giving "oldies" new and extended life. Notably, he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1998 and dozens of regional hall of fames. Truly a legend. This photo was likely signed during a promotional event in 2006 on his third return Chicago's WLS. Excellent condition with a small crease to upper right hand corner. A very presentable copy of an important radio collectible. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.
