TAKOM 2188 1/35 Object 279 w/NBC Commando Plastic Model Kit

The Object 279 is a Soviet experimental heavy tank developed in the 1950s.
- In the 1950s, the Soviet Union was working on several plans to develop new heavy tanks, one of which was the Object 279, a heavy tank designed for use in the event of a nuclear war.
- This vehicle had a unique shape, with four tracks, two on each side, on a disc-like, fluid-curved body to deflect the blast and shock waves from a nuclear explosion and prevent the vehicle from tipping over. A prototype was completed in 1959 and various tests were conducted, and the test results were good, demonstrating high maneuverability on rough roads thanks to the ground pressure provided by the four tracks, which was comparable to that of a light tank, and the high-output engine.
- However, due to its complex structure, the production costs were too high, and it lacked amphibious capabilities, so doubts were raised about its ability to operate in terrain separated by large rivers, and so it was not officially adopted or mass-produced.
- The tracks are movable and connectable
- Two types of barrels included
- Three types of markings are included
- Etching and clear parts included
- Includes 1 figure
