From an old-time collection of fine British and Commonwealth coins, Lincoln Gold & Coin is pleased to offer this fully original 1897 Silver 1/2 Rupee struck at the Bombay Mint under the reign of Queen Victoria. An incredibly rare coin – only 560 minted during a time of great financial turbulence when the British Indian government was defending the value of the silver Rupee against the British pound. Long considered a great rarity in the series of British India regal coinage, this 1/2 rupee was part of a collection purchased in London decades ago and now being offered to our online customers. This recently graded and authenticated coin is just one example from an extraordinary collection of British India coins and currency available online and at our store in Northern California.
