1937 Conn 12 A cornet.

This is a quite remarkable instrument which sparkles both in its appearance and in its sound quality.   It has obviously been well cared for throughout its 87 years.  All the slides pull, the valves are in amazing condition, very smooth, and  the compression is good.   There are no dents or dings, the lacquer is almost 100% and the coprion bell is absolutely beautiful.

As well as being a rarity and a collector's piece, it's all fit and ready to blow.   It has a lovely, clear, mellow, tone, projects well when needed, but is gentle and velvety when played quietly.   It's comfortable to hold and easy to play.

The case shows its age more than the horn, but it's far from shabby and is still solid and protective.   Both the catches work well, the springs are good but there's no keys.

I'm just a year younger than this cornet.   I'm terminally ill, and I no longer in need all of the instruments, mouthpieces and accessories that I've amassed over the years, so, one by one, and sadly, I'm offering them for sale, hoping that they'll find good homes where they'll be valued and enjoyed.   This is an outstanding specimen.
