For sale is an extremely rare table by Ilmari Taiovaara. It has been referred to as a 'stool', and although it is stout with no weak joints, I would not risk sitting upon it. It would be better served as a small end table or side table. Excellent height for playing board games on the floor or from a bean bag, wonderful height for food and beverages. It also would be a great display table. Let's face it, this is a conversation starter for any well-decorated mid-century modern Danish or Atomic area designed living area. We believe this is handmade by Ilmari Taiovaara himself. The age and patina of everything just feels correct. There is some splitting of the top veneer of ply but nothing egregious and could be repaired without too much difficulty. We cleaned it just a bit but it could use a more thorough going over, some white-colored paint overspray should be removed (see photos). We'll let the next owner decide the level of desired restoration. We think it looks great as it sits.
