Chronowar #1, #4, #5, #7, #8, #9 1996 Dark Horse Comics  Sold separately

#1Story and art by Kazumasa Takayama. A decaying, old satellite is headed straight for Tokyo, and the city is three citizens shy of total evacuation. Hard-boiled detective Watanabe remains in the abandoned gotham, searching for a gaunt, desperate Machida, who is wanted for attempted murder; and Chiaki, a stubborn housewife who doesn't believe the burning rubble will hit Tokyo, also remains behind. But Chiaki is wrong. And when the satellite does hit, the three find the city is less abandoned than before. Someone was riding that satellite down from orbit, and that someone wasn't born on earth! 32 pages, B&W.

#4 Story and art by Kazumasa Takayama. The living spaceship Ohzun is the last creation of a civilization destroyed by a supernova, a wandering starship entrusted with carrying on the legacy of its dead masters. But why Ohzun has come to earth, and why it has chosen these three humans to come before it, isn't entirely clear. Nor are those humans sure they want it to be . . . 32 pages, B&W

#5Story and art by Kazumasa Takayama. Some people feel they're moving too fast through life. This is especially true for Machida, Chiaki, and Detective Watanabe -- thanks to the living spaceship Ozhun, they are moving one hundred thousand times faster than everyone else! They're part of a twisted, inhuman experiment, but they've got an even bigger problem -- the Detective has gone nuts and threatens to raise the stakes to the ultimate level! 32 pages, B&W.

#7Story and art by Kazumasa Takayama. Good guys finish last. That's what former detective Watanabe is teaching Machida -- and he's teaching it the hard way. The lesson begins when Machida attempts to rescue Chiaki, who is suspended in the air above Tokyo Tower. It ends when Watanabe's trap is sprung -- a battery of machine guns set to blast both Machida and Chiaki to the other side of the Japanese city. It's not fair, but what they say about love and war still applies in Chronowar. 32 pages, B&W.

#8Story and art by Kazumasa Takayama. How much can you risk for love? As Chiaki and Watanabe battle on top of Tokyo Tower, the heat from their hyper-accelerated muscles is tearing their fragile human bodies apart. Watanabe is betting on the alien Ohzun to give him an electronic afterlife. But is Chiaki's newly discovered love for Machida enough to sustain her in the face of mutilation and death? And can Machida, half-paralyzed by Watanabe's machine guns, do anything to help the woman he has worshipped from afar for so long? 32 pages, B&W.

#9 -Story and art by Kazumasa Takayama. Ten months ago a satellite collided with Tokyo -- but Chiaki doesn't remember that. And she doesn't remember that the satellite was a living, alien creature, or that it stopped time and toyed with her and the other two citizens who remained in the city. But of all the things Chiaki doesn't remember, of all the amazing things she's experienced in the last three-hundred-and-some odd days, the one thing you'd think she'd be able to recall is . . . she's dead. 32 pages, B&W.

COMIC GRADE DETAILS:

NM – “Near Mint” (Note: There is a distinction between "Mint" and "Near Mint") - A nearly perfect copy. Only a few very minor defects. Acceptable defects on a Near Mint copy may include: minor color breaks from the printing process, a very small amount of spine stresses, very minor instances of denting (two or three at most), slight corner blunting, and minor (less than 1/8") bends without color breaks.

Sometimes it’s possible for a brand new comic shipped from the publisher, distributor or purchased new from a store, to already be in less than near mint condition due to the way the comic was produced, shipped, stored, or handled prior to purchase.

VF/NM – “Very Fine/Near Mint” Are nearly perfect copies that may fall short of Near Mint but are still, condition wise, above Very Fine. VF/NM are comics with minor imperfections that fall between the VF and NM grades. Imperfections may include any of the following: a very small amount of spine stresses, very minor instances of denting (two or three at most), slight corner blunting, and minor (less than 1/8") bends without color breaks. Minor corner wear, a light accumulation of spine stress that may include color-break, a light accumulation of dents, and bends or folds less than 1/4" or minor color breaks from the printing process.

VF - A “Very Fine” copy has minor defects, but overall is in excellent condition. Acceptable defects on a VF are typically minor and may include: minor corner wear, a light accumulation of spine stress that may include color-break, a light accumulation of dents, and bends or folds less than 1/4" (note that on a VF copy, some color-break is allowed in a bend/fold).

If you have specific questions about the EXACT condition of the comic you are purchasing, please contact us prior to purchase.

FN - "Fine" Typically considered "above average" but still shows some wear due to either an accumulation of minor defects or one or two moderate defects. Acceptable defects on a FN copy typically include: Minor spine roll, a moderate amount of spine stresses that may break color, a spine split of less than 1/2", minor water spotting/residue (smaller than a dime), an impacted corner, moderate foxing.

VG - "Very Good" Usually shows some significant wear, but generally does not have enough total defects to make it undesirable. Accumulation of minor defects or one or two major ones. VG comics may include: Spine roll, 1/2" to 1" spine splits or other tears, a cover/centerfold that is loose at one staple, discoloration (from oxidation), and/or a moderate accumulation of water damage or staining.

GD - "Good" Major defects, but still intact and readable. Will usually have a significant amount of damage, a collection of smaller defects alongside some major defects. Defects on a GD copy may include: A vertical crease running the books length, 1.5"-2" spine split, cover/centerfold completely separated, major tears, heavy discoloration/brittleness from oxidation, heavy amounts of staining, residue, and/or water damage.
