Addendum: I purchased this book because of the cryptid’s odd description as reported by the various Texans who allegedly sighted it i.e. its resemblance to a “Goatman”. Being from the state of Maryland, we too had a “legend” of a “Goatman” around the Beltsville area of MD, hence I was curious as to what these Texans were alleging to have sighted back in 1969.

Whether this was simply a case of mass hysteria, high school high jinks or an actual hirsute cryptid remains to be seen, but the late Sallie Ann Clarke’s pioneering efforts to interview various eyewitnesses and develop/create a story to tell the story of the happenings around Greer Island, TX in ‘69 made for a delightful 120 page read.
