PERU-PRE-COLUMBIAN ART

A rare Lambayeque (Sicán) gritón ("big shouter") vessel from Peru, ca. 700-1300 AD. This human form example is 8 approximate inches high and depicts a man facing skyward, with mouth wide open frozen in an eternal scream. He is wearing an unusual tiered hat and has ritual tattoos painted on his face. The stripes on the chamber represent his mantle.
Condition: excellent condition with strong mineral deposits, intact suspension loops, and extensive mineral deposits. Normal age and usage wear.
