Handsome antique English county map in original outline color, printed more than 135 years ago.

  • The map was drawn and engraved by noted mapmaker John Bartholomew of London and has wonderful detail throughout.

  • It shows cities, towns, railroads, wagon roads, canals, parks, railway stations, and other local landmarks, as well as natural features in Northampton and Bedford.

  • Among the named places and features are the Great Northern Railway, Dunstable, Luton, Daventry, Whittlebury Forest, Peterborough, Oundle, Yardley Chase, King's Cliffe, Watling Street, Ampthill, Shefford, Castle Ashby, the Ouse River, and more.

  • The map was issued in the 9th edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica and measures 20 cm x 27.5 cm [approximately 8" x 11"] and is printed on one side of a heavyweight sheet, with generous margins all around. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side.

  • Condition:  It is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.

  • This is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It would make an impressive display in your den or office.

  • It would also make a perfect gift, and we'll include our helpful framing tips for your reference — along with a photocopy of the dated title page from the book in which it was published.

  • Buy with confidence! We are always happy to combine shipping on the purchase of multiple items — just make sure to pay for everything at one time, not individually.
