Iron is a common problem in homes today. It causes red staining on fixtures, as well as turning clothes and sometimes even your hair a reddish orange color. Iron bacteria is sometimes present in water with iron, creating a slimy build up in standing water (such as your toilet tank) and can smell like rotting vegetation. Hydrogen Sulfide (mistakenly called sulfur quite frequently) is easily detected by the presence of a "rotten egg" odor, and is sometimes associated with yellow staining. Manganese is most often seen as a black slimy substance that builds in standing water, and may impart a metallic taste to the water.
All of these problems can be eliminated with the Air Injection Platinum System. Using the principle of oxidation, the system uses a patented piston inside the Fleck 2510SXT to create a bubble of compressed air at the top of the tank. As water flows through the system the contaminates are forced into contact with oxygen. This causes them to oxidize into a larger form which is then trapped by the Filox* media.
Controlled by the Fleck 2510SXT control head, this system automatically backwashes. The backwash process uses no chemicals, simply using the force of water to clean the media and flush the contaminates down the drain while replenishing the air bubble. Made by Fleck, the #1 manufacturer of control heads in the US, the digital control head allows for easy user interaction, automatic backwashing, & a professional look.
The patented piston design allows for air injection in a single tank, which is a significant advantage over two tank or venturi (inline) injection systems. By containing the oxidation process to a single tank routine mantenance is reduced, part replacement and associated costs are decreased, and less space is required.
The lack of chemicals does not mean a lack of performance, as this system can outperform even the popular chemically regenerated Greensand systems. In fact, this system has the highest removal capabilities you can find in a single tank system!

No potassium permanganate or any other chemicals are required for operation of the system, it simply backwashes with water.

Service Flows
Service flow rate is the manufacturers recommendation for maximum contaminate removal at a constant flow for media alone. Intermittent flow rate and/or lower contaminate levels MAY allow higher treatment flow rates. Addition of air injection can also increase service flow rates.
Backwash Flow Rates
The backwash flow rate is the minimum rate that MUST be available to ensure proper backwashing and adequate media life. While lower flows can be used and MAY provide adequate results, using less than the recommended will shorten the filter media life.
Filter Media Life
Filter media will last on average of 6 years. Changing the media is fairly easy, just unscrew the control head, dump out the tank, then put in new filter media available from us or any major water treatment company.
