Customer Review By Steven Ransley
Tried a new rod out this weekend actually one I had brought for my sons birthday and was quite surprised by it ,my own rod is a 6wt sage one 9ft/6inch and I love it ,as I am one of those fly fisherman that likes to cast , while not a good distance caster I enjoy laying out a bit of line and occasionally down to the backing knot with minimum false cast .Here is the rod I tried a Discovery Im12 nano 6~7wt 9ft fitted with 6wt floating line, with 2 false cast and 1 shooting cast I was seeing it lay on the water a 12ft leader bit over 60ft of line and 9ft from the top guide down to the reel ,and that was my first cast .10 cast in more and more line was being laid out 90 ft ,then my son wants his rod back . He did part with it again later in the day in exchange for my Sage and I got to play and look at it a lot better ,to me its has a, fast action !! faster then my sage more like a tcx “its stiff” the blank the bindings and the snake guides all very good ,reel seat is very nice with that alloy and carbon wrap look and along with the dark green colour the overall finish is nice and has the appearance of a very expensive rod and while not dislikes, in comparison to my own rod it isn’t as accurate but still pretty good and I do prefer a longer rod 9ft 6 opposed to 9tf and because of my large hands I find the cigar grips a bit awkward and small , I liked it a lot and at around $300 bucks its great value to all as secondary or primary rod and most of all my son loves it …proof of that was when he passed my rod back Steven Ransley
