Product Description:

This offering is for a pair of new-in-the-box Exustar clip-in pedals (model E-PM30T) with factory matched cleats. These pedals weigh-in at about 400 grams (for the set) and we first thought they incorporated a SPD compatible pedal system, but after doing a little research, we realized they were designed with an ATAC (Auto Tension Adjustment Concept) compatible system. Although, we should point out the mounting bracket (to the shoe) is SPD compatible...so any pre-drilled SPD compatible shoe (with the two slots in the middle of the shoe) should accept the cleats included with this pedal system.

We are not as familiar with the ATAC technology, but from what we can tell, the design has the distinct feature of allowing for the spring tension to be adjusted without impacting the float. In other words, the spring tension that governs the ability to enter and exit the clip-in mechanism may be adjusted, but the float (once clipped into the pedal) will remain unchanged...so the pedal system should be fairly comfortable, even with high spring tension. This is in contrast to some other clip-in pedals systems where there is a trade-off between higher spring tension (to ensure a cleat is securely clipped in) and less float (so generally less comfort, because there is very little "play" once the cleat is securely clipped in).

As a result, it would appear the ATAC compatible system designed into these clip-in pedals has some benefits. Although, please keep in mind these are newer stock off-branded pedals made in Taiwan. This is not to say they are an inferior product, as they do seem to be decent quality...with an alloy pedal body, a sealed bearing design and a chromoly steel spindle...but we would still classify them as an entry-level ATAC compatible pedal system. Although at this price point, they still may be worth a look...especially when considering the retail price for some of the better quality Time ATAC pedal systems.

As for condition, each pedal set is new and in it's original retail packaging (box). We can also confirm that all the mounting hardware, cleats, etc. are included with each pedal offering (and this includes the SPD compatible mounting brackets alluded to earlier...so any pre-drilled SPD compatible shoe (with the two slots in the middle of the shoe) should accept the cleats included with this pedal system. Listing Update...We've had some customers inquire further about the cleats and related hardware, and we realized the original pictures did not show these cleats very well (as they were still wrapped in a plastic bag). As a result, we have added a handful of pictures to the listing (see below and two the left) that show these cleats and the related hardware spread out over the retail box. Hope these added pictures are helpful.

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.

Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
