Isidore-Laurent Deroy was a very well-known French landscape painter, graphic artist and lithographer of the 19th century. He studied under L.-F.Cassas and D.Felix, began exhibiting in 1822 at Paris Salon, where he regularly displayed views of all parts of France. His most significant lithographies appeared in large, widely popular portfolios and so-called "Recueils pittoresques et romantiques". Along with Alphonse Bichebois and Leon-Baptiste Sabatier Deroy is considered one of the most fruitful and gifted landscape painters of the 19th century who continued the tradition of Richard Parkes Bonington and Eugene Isabey. Works by the artist are displayed in various French museums.
*This work comes from an album with other works by the artist and other artists such as Hubert Robert, Lancelot Theodore de Turpin de Crisse, Constant Bourgeois du Castelet, Rose d'Osterwald, Prosper Barbot, Charles Eschard, Antoine Francois Sergent-Marceau.
