Collected together on this unique CD is a fine selection of 27 of the best antiquarian, old and vintage books on British Birds.
The CD contains hundreds of pages of fascinating information about the species of birds that could be found in the British Isles a century or more ago, some of which are now very rare or even extinct.
These books were originally published between the mid 19th century and the early 20th century when the interest in the natural history and the study of our native birds and other wildlife by scientists, naturalists and amateurs was at its height.
The books are written by some of the top ornithologists, natural history writers and scientific specialists of their day, including Charles Dixon, W. Percival Westell, Henry O. Forbes, Arthur G. Butler, John Duncan, Thomas Bewick and many others. They are largely written for the aspiring amateur naturalist and bird watcher as well as for the general reader interested in the wildlife of the British Isles.
The volumes are beautifully and extensively illustrated with many colour and black & white paintings, engravings, woodcuts, drawing and photographs.
