Weapons of the Highland Regiments 1740-1780 by Anthony D. Darling. In 1740, independent Highland companies were embodied as the 43rd regiment of the line. Muskets and bayonets were supplied by the government, traditional broadswords by the colonel, and pistols and dirks by the men. Later, pistols were made by the gunmakers in England. This study deals with the formation and arming of the famous Highland regiments. 28 pp., 32 ill.
