BIO
Nick Ringelstetter, SPRING GREEN, WI.
I have always been the doodling kid as far back as I could remember. I would draw aliens, monsters and foreign planets. I honestly thought I would become an engineer or scientist than to learn I absolutely could not learn the way they taught in the schooling system. I did not pursue art after high-school because I thought the world was too flooded with artists and my work was so different that no one would want it. January of 2008 after not creating any art for myself for 2 years I decided to buy a few canvases and paints with the little money I had to create some work for my own walls. After finishing my first 5 mixed-media paintings using spray, acrylic, water, oils paints, markers and pens I applied to my home towns art fair just to do it. I didn’t expect to be accepted so when the letter came in the mail congratulating me the jury selected my work I was blown away! Now I was forced to focus on creating enough work to fill a booth. I ended getting 16 originals completed for the show and my goal was to sell one piece over the entire weekend. The very first day 13 of the 16 pieces found new homes. I don’t know who was more shocked my parents or I. Right after the show I went home and painted until 1 am to make enough work to fill my booth for the final day. After the event I remember standing in the middle of the street gazing down throughout the show knowing I had something special here and that was the spark that ignited my art career.
