All our steel art designs are comprised of 14 gauge hot rolled raw steel with a mill scale finish. If left in an uncontrolled or outdoor environment, these products will be subjected to rust. If you do not desire a rusty patina finish, the steel can be coated in any outdoor-grade clear coat, or paint. To ensure proper paint adhesion, the surface should be cleaned with rubbing alcohol prior to paint application.
