Marino M. Lusy was born in 1880 in Trieste and died in 1953 in Montreux. His parents (originally from Greece) settled in Trieste for business reason. He studied in Munich and Paris and dedicated himself above all to engravings. He loved traveling in the Far East and amassed a very rich collection of "Surimono", the most important in Europe and which is now kept in the Rietberg Museum in Zurich. A true philanthropist, he donated a building in the central Piazza Goldoni to the Municipality of Trieste, as a foundation in favor of the Institute for the Poor.
