Prince Victor Odescalchi (1833-1880) was a well-known Austrian officer and watercolor artist of the mid-19th century, who belonged to a Vienna-based family of the Roman high nobility (Palace Odescalchi can still be viewed in Rome). Prince Odescalchi received his formal training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He was active in 1850s-1870s working as a genre and military painter. Being a member of the military himself, he recorded special events from his service in many drawings and paintings.
