Instructions
– Unpainted Sleigh
Craft Wales
suggests that you attempt a trial assembly run prior to painting. Slot all the
components into the grooves that fit each component using the illustration for
identification. This will provide you with an idea of what you do need to paint
and what you will not need to paint. (For example, under the seat, bottom part
of back upright, back of seat support, part of the base and one side of decorative
pieces do not require painting) DO NOT GLUE AT THIS STAGE.
Instructions
– Painted and Unpainted Sleigh
Craft Wales
suggests that a soft surface (to protect the painted sleigh’s surface) is used
to place the one side of the sleigh flat on the floor - with the grooves facing
upwards. (As with the unpainted sleigh, a trial run is suggested prior to any
glue being used on the painted sleigh). Please use the diagram supplied with
the component descriptions to identify which pieces are intended to fit in which
slots.
·
Prior
to adding any PVA glue – prepare yourself with a clean, damp (not wet) cloth in
the event of any overspill of glue so that the sleigh can be wiped immediately.
Once you are
confident that all pieces fit correctly you can then run sufficient PVA in each
of the channels, using a small brush or plastic glue spreader, and place all
the sections together. Ensure that all the internal parts are fitted to the
first side panel prior to placing the second panel on to them. Once all the
internal sections have been fitted to the first panel correctly, you should
then run glue to the channels of the second panel using a small brush or
plastic glue spreader to ensure all parts of the grooves are well coated and to
help prevent overspill. Place the second panel on top. Place the screws provided
in the pre-drilled holes and ensure that they line up correctly with the pilot
holes in the back upright (D), the front upright (E) and the under seat support (F). Use clamps to
hold in place or alternatively place some heavy items on top until glue has
dried.
