Ergot Project nasce da un’idea del bassista e produttore sardo Christian
Marras: trattasi di un ‘collettivo’ aperto a molteplici espressioni
artistiche, che intende avere come unica finalità la totale anarchia
creativa nella creazione di nuove produzioni musicali.
Ergot
Project è perciò una sorta di ‘factory’ dove il gruppo di lavoro,
diretto e seguito da Christian Marras, varia in continuazione a seconda
delle necessità permettendo di ampliare i confini di sperimentazione
sonora e artistica. In questa occasione Ergot Project è composto da
Christian Marras (Chapman Stick e direzione artistica), Daniela Pes
(voce), Riccardo Nieddu (chitarre), Daniele Pala (batteria), Roberto
Schirru (batteria, synth e programmazioni), Eros Cristiani (Fender
Rhodes, synth e programmazioni), Andrea Pica (mix e mastering).
L’artwork è opera di Ombretta Salis.
La curiosità e la voglia di
destrutturare alcuni brani storici dei Beatles porta alla pubblicazione
del primo album dal titolo “Beat-less”, a ennesima dimostrazione del
fatto che i brani dei Fab Four sono opere senza tempo, adattabili e
riarrangiabili in qualsiasi contesto musicale. Questo disco, a dispetto
del nome, trova proprio nel beat, inteso come ritmo, uno dei suoi punti
di forza. Restano riconoscibilissime, ovviamente, le melodie portanti e i
ritornelli, ma tutto ciò che vi gravita intorno è stato completamente
rivisitato in una personalissima chiave heavy-electro-prog. Un tributo
inaspettato e interessante, che stupisce ad ogni ascolto!

Ergot
Project is the brainchild of Sardinian bassist and producer Christian
Marras: it’s a ‘collective’ open to various artistic expressions, meant
to have as its sole purpose the total creative anarchy in the creation
of new musical productions.
Ergot Project is therefore a kind of
'factory' where the working group, directed and supervised by Christian
Marras, varies continuously as needed, allowing to expand the boundaries
of art and sound experimentation. On this occasion Ergot Project
consists of Christian Marras (Chapman Stick and art direction), Daniela
Pes (vocals), Richard Nieddu (guitars), Daniele Pala (drums), Roberto
Schirru (drums, synth and programming), Eros Cristiani (Fender Rhodes,
synths and programming), Andrea Pica (mix and mastering). The artwork
was made by Ombretta Salis.
Curiosity and the desire to
deconstruct some historical songs by The Beatles has led to the release
of the Project’s debut album, “Beat-less”, in yet another demonstration
of the fact that the Fab Four's compositions are timeless works, that
can be adapted and arranged in any musical context. Despite its name,
this record finds in the beat, intended as ‘rhythm’, one of its
strengths. Melodies and choruses remain perfectly recognizable of
course, but everything that revolves around them has been completely
revisited in a very personal heavy-electro-prog key. An unexpected and
interesting tribute, which amazes at each listen!
