Namentlich für seine Folk Art Collection "Heartwood Creek" wurde Jim Shore von der "National Association of Limited Edition Dealers" 2004 zum "KÜNSTLER DES JAHRES" gekürt. Die einzelnen Stücke sind sehr liebevoll, detailgetreu, lebendig und besitzen das Aussehen einer geschnitzten Figur. Es handelt sich jedoch um gegossene Figuren, welche handbemalt, jede Einzelne zum Unikat wird.
