Robert Theer (1808 Johannisberg/Austrian Silezia - 1863 Vienna) was a well-known Viennese portraitist and lithographer of the early 19th century.He was born in a well-known family of artists, son of a gem cutter Joseph Theer, brother of the painters Adolf Theer and Albert Theer. In 1820 together with his family he moved to Vienna, where he studied at the Academy under Eduard Klieber. He was also trained by miniaturist Moritz Michael Daffinger. At the age of 16 years he opened his own studio and from 1828 till 1846 regularly showed his works at the annual academical exhibitions in Vienna. He soon became a very popular miniaturist of the Vienna high society and court.
