Hendra Hardware - Official eBay Store

Features

Three selective herbicides

Weedkill contains three selective broadleaf herbicides that will control a broad range of weeds (see technical details below for a list)

Greener stronger lawns

Boosted iron and sulphur content promotes deeper green and stronger growth. The thicker the lawn, the less chance weeds have of taking hold - they're smothered before they become obvious and need treatment

Controlled feeding

Slow release of nutrients eliminates waste through run-off and leaching and prevents burning and surge growth

No surge growth after application

Traditional lawn foods release or 'dump' most of their nutrients within a couple of weeks of application, causing a rapid surge in growth that quickly drops off again as the food supply diminishes. Lawn Builder uses patented time-release technology to ensure nutrients are released slowly and continuously over a three month period

Low phosphorus

Weedkill has 1% phosphorus, which means it can be safely used anywhere in Australia without posing any risk to ground or surface water

Low application rate

The recommended application rate is just 16 grams per m2, not the kilograms often associated with regular lawn foods!

Size

2.5kg bag

Suitable for

Weedkill can be safely used on lawns containing common couch, bent (not on bent greens), kikuyu, perennial ryegrass and/or Chewings fescue ONLY

Not suitable for

DO NOT USE on buffalo, carpet grass, lippia, dichondra or Santa Ana couch as these grasses and lawn substitutes may be damaged by this product. This includes all named varieties of buffalo - Sir Walter, Palmetto, Sapphire, etc

DO NOT lay new grass or sow patching products within one month of application

Do not apply on or around food plants or animal feed crops

Do not use on new lawns until at least 4 weeks after the first mowing

Do not use if the temperature is expected to exceed 30 degrees C - wait for a cool spell

How it works

  • Weedkill is a slow release fertiliser that provides continuous nutrition over a three month period while eradicating selected broadleaf weeds
  • Every granule of Weedkill contains Scotts patented time-release nitrogen
  • Nutrients are released at about the same rate that grass roots can take up the fertiliser so there is no wastage, run-off to waterways or damaging surge growth

How to use

How much will I need?
Weedkill has a recommended application rate of 16g/m2.
To work out how much you will need to fertilise your lawn:

  1. Calculate the area of the lawn in square metres (multiply the length by the width)
  2. The area multiplied by the application rate will give the exact amount of Lawn Builder you need
  3. Use a set of scales to weigh it out and then add it to the spreader ready to apply - do not be tempted to add a 'bit extra for luck' because over-application may result in nitrogen burning

    As a guide:
¼ of a tennis court is about 65m2
½ of a tennis court is about 130m2
An entire tennis court is about 260m2

How do I apply it?

  1. For best results ALWAYS use a Scotts spreader
  2. Check your model and make sure to set it correctly before you start (settings are also on the back label of the product)

EvenGreen Drop Spreader - setting 5
EasyGreen Rotary Spreader - setting 26
HandyGreen or Easy Handheld Spreader - setting 4¼
  3. If you don't have a spreader, make sure you distribute the fertiliser evenly over the lawn - uneven applications may result in 'hot spot' burning where too much has landed in one spot
  4. Don't attempt to cover the area in one pass - you may under or over apply. Even coverage may be better obtained by passing over the entire area at least three times, moving at a different angle and applying about one third of the total amount in each pass
  5. Apply to moist foliage. If the lawn is not moist from dew or recent rain, wet the area to be treated
  6. Allow the product to remain undisturbed on the lawn for 24 hours before watering in thoroughly
  7. Rain, watering or heavy foot traffic within 24 hours can knock granules off weeds and may reduce the effectiveness of the weedicides
  8. Do not mow within 48 hours of applying this product

When to use

Recommended Application Times & Weeds Controlled

Autumn to early Spring: Bindii (Onehunga Weed), Capeweed, Catsear (Flatweed),
Chickweed, Dandelion, Fumitory, Hydrocotyl (Pennyweed), Mallow, Mouse-eared Chickweed, Plantain (Lambs Tongue)

  • Avoid applying when daytime temperatures are forecast to exceed 30 degrees
  • Do not re-apply for at least 10 weeks after initial use

Hendra Hardware was established in May 1982 and has grown along with the amazing community that surrounds it. Open 7 days a week, our iconic bricks and mortar store (Hardwood and chamferboard in our case) has been a pillar within the Hendra community.

Providing that true blue service, we aim to create an experience for our customers, each and every time they visit. Due to the dedication and commitment of our store manager Dean Cuss, and his team, Hendra Hardware continues to withstand the test of time. With over 100 years of cumulative hardware experience, we are confident that you will walk away with the best solution in hand and the right advice. There is not one task too great or too small; we are the problem solvers, the advice givers, the knowledge bank. If we don’t have it, we will make every effort to find it, locally when we can. In the rare instance where we cannot source it, we can usually point you in the direction of another local business that can. We donate to, and support, various groups within our community and we will take the time to get to know your name.

VISION

Our vision is to help build a better community by forming trusting relationships and creating an iconic experience that reinforces in our customers minds that there is a strong point of difference when supporting smaller, local, independent businesses. By aligning ourselves with a strong independent buying group like Mitre10, we enabled ourselves to help pave the path of independence for future generations and protect diversity within the consumer market. The hardware industry has invested in many sustainability initiatives to reduce our carbon foot print on our environment already and continues to encourage growth in this area.

History

From our original building, one-third of its current size, through the opening and closing of our sister store in Racecourse Rd Hamilton, the SEQEB power dispute in 1985, the relocation of the horse stables, the outbreak of the Hendra virus in 1994, not to mention the hail storms and floods…. We have survived.

Everything we do and offer comes from decades of experience and ensuring we provide that personal touch. In 1994 Hendra Hardware’s alignment with the Mitre10 group secured a better foundation for the business through superior branding, stronger marketing and increased buying power.

In 2010 the store’s founder Chris Davies mentioned his plans to retire and move on to greener pastures to the property owners – the Pinkey family. Alan Pinkey who opened Pinkey’s Convenience store back in the 1970’s and his son Matthew saw an opportunity to ensure the survival of this local icon and the deal was struck. Since then with Matthew at the helm the store has, and continues to, grow and diversify to meet the expanding needs of the local community as well as strive to ensure the future of the business
