For sale is Yachts self titled first album, originally released in 1979 by Sire Records. This is a promotional copy with a gold stamp on the front corner. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original insert(s) or inner sleeve(s) that may have come with the listing. In the dead wax between the label and the last tracks is etched "Sterling", followed by the matrix numbers C-2/C-1, indicating that it was mastered at Sterling Sound, N.Y.C. and an early stamper was used to make this first pressing. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering with superior sound quality, sought after by collectors and music lovers alike. The cover is graded VG+ with some ring wear, corner blunts and a creased corner. The spine is off-center but Near Mint. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The vinyl is visually graded as NM. I'm play grading it as Excellent because of occasional very low level surface noise, hardly noticeable except during the quiet sections. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This is the best copy of this record that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find a promotional copy like this one. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection.    I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
