Sencha Kyoto Cherry Rose

Sencha is commonly used in Japanese tea ceremonies marking events of personal importance. In this type of ceremony, it is the ritual that is of paramount importance as the individual is being acknowledged. This tea was blended to celebrate spring in Kyoto, the ancient cultural centre of Japan.

Hot Tea Brewing Method

Hot tea brewing method: Heat water to 80°C (or 180°F). Place 1 teaspoon of green tea per cup (and add 1 teaspoon for the pot) into the teapot (for a more intense infusion, add a bit more tea). Pour the water into the pot and let it steep for about 3 minutes. Pour into your cup and enjoy.
Alternatively, put the tea in a tea infuser and brew right in your cup. When preparing by the cup, this tea can be used repeatedly - about 3 times.

Iced Tea Brewing Method

Make as for hot, but add extra tea - a rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to double the amount of tea leaves used per cup. When the tea has cooled a little, pour over ice. It is important to make it a little stronger as the ice will water it down.

Alternatively, you can cold brew the tea by placing the tea leaves in a jug and adding cold water. Leave to infuse for a few hours (or overnight in the fridge) strain and enjoy. Cold brewing will give a smoother taste.
