Cedar Cladding Oil / Decking Oil penetrates deeply into timber surfaces and, in a similar way to bark, attaches to the wood capillaries providing protection against extreme climate conditions. This product is designed for use on timbers like cedar, larch, pine and lots more. It is not suitable for timbers which contain lots of tannin's, such as oak. This product is the ideal finish for cladding, doors, windows and other exterior joinery and decking.

This treatment prolongs the life of the wood keeping the wood supple. This will help prevent cracking, splitting and discolouring. Its a clear product so wont effect the original colour of new wood untreated.

Application of Cedar Cladding Oil

HOW TO USE

Preparation
Ensure the timber is clean using Rye Oil Ltd's Decking Cleaner. Make sure its dry and free from previous finishes.

Application
Apply a generous coating of Decking Oil with a paint brush or roller or spray.Allow to penetrate for 30-40 minutes then required apply the second coatwithout waiting for the first to totally dry. Continue to apply more coats ofDecking Oil until the timber no longer absorbs the oil. Pooling is a sign thatthe timber had absorbed all it can. Wipe any excess with a lint-free cottoncloth and allow the oil to soak in for 24 hours before using the decking.

Important
Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber. A wet surface will be anindication of the final colour. Always test the product on a spare surface orinconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. If you havingproblems spraying, you can thin with white spirit.

Cleaningand maintenance
To keep the finish Rye Oil Ltd suggests that general maintenance clean with RyeOil’s Timber Cleaner. We recommend cleaning once a year as routine maintenance. To maintain the overall finish reapply every 3-4 years.

Precautions
Wearsuitable clothing and protective gloves when using Cedar Treat. Store CedarTreat at a temperature above 5°C. Always replace the lid otherwise the oil candeteriorate. Oily cloths can self-combust. Do not leave impregnated cloths inbundles. Before discarding the cloths lay them flat outside to dry to avoid afire hazard. May not be suitable for some hardwoods. Please contact us foradvice on your specific type of hardwood. On most hard woods we would suggestRye Oil’s Danish Oil or Pure Tung Oil.

Additional information:

Over the past few months a few of our customer base have come back to us saying that they are using our decking oil as DW40 substitute. They report it works very well. This product is a penetrating oil, so we're not surprised. It's a nice extra should you have any left over after treating your decking.
