It was 1968 when his non-conventional, casual and elegant character arrived on set of the film The Thomas Crown Affair. And he was wearing a pair of Persol 714 sunglasses.
This is where history and legend intertwine. The American actor had been a Persol fan for some time, and had a vast personal collection. In 2006, a pair from his collection was sold at an auction for about USD 70,000.
This folding 714 model, and in particular the version with the light havana frame and crystal blue lenses, Steve McQueen™ discovered an accessory that went on to accompany him on set but also in his private life, renowned for his love for bikes and racing cars.
Confident and refined, the model reflects the rebellious character of the actor, someone who loved to take risks and boasted an inimitable style. Persol celebrates this elective affinity with a Special Edition: the Persol 714 SM pays tribute to the timeless hero, Steve McQueen™.

Steve McQueen™ Special Edition is the result of a patient and painstaking craftsmanship.
Compared to Persol 714 icon sunglasses, it features the details of the original model worn by the actor.
ORIGINAL BLUE LENSES: The blue lenses, a favourite of Steve McQueen™, are made of top quality crystal, as all Persol models, and are exceptionally slim, light and comfortable to wear. They are polarised and photochromatic with an anti-reflecting coating, guaranteeing crystal-clear vision in all light conditions.
FOLDING SYSTEM: The folding closure system on the end of the stem moves from the outside towards the inside, so no longer from the top downwards as before. It takes just a couple of second to fold the sunglasses and pop them in a jacket pocket.
SUPREME ARROW: The Supreme Arrow, Persol's distinctive symbol and functional element that embraces the hinges. In this case it is positioned on the stem and front, like the classic model, and also on the folding hinge and half-way along the stem, for a total of four arrows. This choice highlights the brand identity of a model that is already an icon.
ORIGINAL DOUBLE ARROW: The name Steve McQueen™ is reproduced inside the stem and on the stylish leather case.

DELIVERIES
· I package very well in order to minimise the chances of damage whilst in the postal service and your item will reach you in the condition it leaves me. All my records are wrapped in bubble wrap and then posted inside a sturdy 'pizza' style box designed specifically for posting records.
· Sealed records may be shipped outside jacket to avoid seam splits upon request after buyer makes purchase. Seller not responsible for any audio defects on sealed/unplayed items.
· The dispatch estimate for each item is shown on the item’s listing page. In case there is an emergency i will email you and inform you of any delay. The majority of deliveries are made by Hellenic Post and will arrive within 5-10 days
