MEIJI DYNASTY RETICULATED HIRADO KORO CENSER

BLUE WHITE WITH FIERCE DRAGONS AND FOO LIONS

This Hirado Koro Censer is one of the most sought after works done by Hirado which represents some of the finest Japanese Porcelain ever created.  Very few of these reticulated Koro Censers have ever been seen for sale.  Most are in museums or private collections.  The details of this work reflect master craftsmanship created by the hands of porcelain artists who are now a part of history.  The foo lions and dragons have fierce character traits designed for protection.

The Dimensions are 12.5 x 3.5 inches.  If this work was designed to be 3 pieces, 2 pieces on the base have been attached with professional adhesive which may be original to the work.  The lid is separate.  The condition of this porcelain work is excellent.  The dragons have 3 claws. It appears one claw on each foot is slightly smaller than the other two.  Therefore, a very small part of one claw on each foot may be slightly nicked or may also be original to the piece.  Overall, excellent condition.  Very rare to find a Hirado with this detail in such excellent condition.  This is an investment grade museum quality work that will benefit generations to come.

A Certificate of Authenticity hand signed by Laurent Ashton on archival laid paper will accompany this artwork.
