Soviet Telnyashka TShirt Striped Navy Blue White Long Sleeve Woven Autumn Weight


This telnyshka is manufactured recently in the former USSR area. A Telnyashka is a striped top undershirt worn by armed and non armed government workers - originally in the former USSR. Typically a dark colour with a white equidistant horizontal stripe the Telnyashka has now become an iconic item worn mostly for urban fashion reasons. It can be sleeveless or not and originally was made in several different fabric weights for the different seasons of the year. It is an iconic uniform garment worn by the Russian Navy, the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) and the Russian Naval Infantry (marines). Dating back to the 19th century Tsarist Navy it was subsequently worn by the Soviet successors of these troops. Telnyashkas with stripes of certain dark color are traditionally the marks of particular troops, for example: Black (depth) - submariners Dark blue (sea) - Navy and Naval Infantry Light blue (sky) - VDV paratroopers, GRU Spetsnaz (posing as VDV) Light green (forests) - Border Troops Red (soviet flag color) - OMON and Internal Troops of the MVD
