You are bidding on one Graflex Crown Graphic 4x5 field camera in excellent used condition. Cosmetically, the leatherwork is in excellent condition. The aluminum parts in the back have moderate paint chipping. The leather is in very good condition.
The bellows on this camera is pristine, with no signs of damage.
The rack and pinion focus are very smooth.
The right hand remote trigger is a bit sticky to return to non-firing position, but I have made no attempt to lubricate it so it should free up easily.
The rangefinder is missing its top cap. Its adjustment is off, so it will not be useable as a focusing device without cleaning and calibration. However, the cog interlink does work and the mirror moves with the front standard.
The ground glass needs to be cleaned, and has no markings. The rear spring cover works as it should - please note, the surface finish on the rear spring cover is smoother than the crinkle finish of the paint on the rest of the rear aluminum parts - it looks like it was cleaned with a solvent.
The ektar 127mm f/4.7 lens is in good optical condition for its age, with a moderate level of internal dust and a few cleaning marks. The aperture blades open and close properly and smoothly. This lens has a kodak series VI lens hood fitted to it (the camera does close with the hood mounted).
The lens is outfitted with a Kodak Flash Supermatic shutter. Here are my by-ear interpretations of the shutter speed condition:
1 second: approx 1 1/4-1 1/2 seconds, fires consistently.
1/2 second: approx 3/4 seconds
1/5 second: approx 1/4 - 1/3 second
1/10 second: approx 1/10 second
1/25-1/400 second sound good.
Please note: This shutter does not have a PC-sync plug. Instead it has a two-prong plug that could be converted to PC-sync.
