Pentax Spotmatic SPII / SP2 35mm M42 SLR Camera, Original Case, Strap, Packaging

This is an incredibly good deal for a lovely camera. I am the second owner: I bought the camera with the original packaging from another seller on eBayer who had owned it from new. It's pretty rare to find these with the original box. The box, case, and strap are a bit tatty and worn, they're definitely cool to have along with the camera though.

Mechanical Condition

• Perfect. You won't find a better functioning Spotmatic short of one freshly serviced.
• I compared the shutter speeds with my ME Super which has an electronically controlled shutter (so is very accurate) and they match exactly, even the slow speeds down to 1s. 
• The meter is also perfectly accurate and the readings match both my ME Super and my digital Panasonic GF1.
• I believe due to their age these require a specific type of battery to work. I'm not sure which, but whatever it is the previous owner installed a brand new one for me and as I said, it works perfectly. I'll leave the battery in the camera for you—it hasn't seen much use so should give you a few years juice unless you shoot a roll a day or something.
• Self timer functions smoothly.
• Dials, levers, everything moving feels nice and smooth.
• Aperture stop down works (the bit inside the lens mount which flicks up to stop the lens down).
• The meter lever / stop down lever (labelled 'SW') works, it's just a bit loose. I think this is partly due to the way it's supposed to work: if you simply push it up it will take a reading then flick down once you let go. If you push it in towards the lens mount as you push it up it will click and lock into place. Over the years it seems to have become looser but still perfectly functional and not a problem.
• Viewfinder is clear and easy to focus. There are perhaps 4 tiny dust specs if I look hard without a lens on up to bright light. No scratches or gunk though.
• Would definitely benefit from new light seals and mirror damper. Hasn't given me problems but you should know that the old seals have disintegrated. I can provide you with the email of a guy who has sent me wonderful light seal kits for my other cameras for a great price (less than £10) with easy instructions.
• Anything I've forgotten to mention—it works perfectly.

Cosmetic Condition

• Good, you can tell it's been used but not with disregard.
• Slight dent to top prism.
• Scratches to bottom plate.
• Various rubs to the chrome plating all over.
• Slight loss of paint to the 'Spotmatic' etching.
• Some black enamel paint worn off in places, e.g. around lens mount, eyepiece, and on wind-on lever.
• I've taken lots of very detailed pictures which accurately describe the camera and of course you'll be able to see anything else I've looked over. It's very nice for its vintage in my opinion.

Included in the sale are: Pentax Spotmatic SPII camera body (pictured); battery (installed in camera); original case (pictured); original strap (pictured); original packaging, including box, polystyrene foam, and plastic bag.

The Takumar 35mm in the last picture is not included and not for sale, but I do have a nice Chinon 35mm F2.8 in M42 mount which would match this camera perfectly, so please check that out.
